well as the expectations for each.
2.

slots for volunteering - write down the day, time, and position. Click

3.
Send an email to Heidi Nye in the AEA office at Heidi@eval.org
- even if you are a CES member or Canadian student - as AEA is coordinating
the volunteer sign-up. If you are comfortable writing in English, please
correspond with Heidi in English. If you are not comfortable in
English, we can translate from French. In your email, include:
A.
At what college/university are you enrolled full-time?
B.
What are your first and second choice slots for volunteering (indicate the
day,
time, and position)?
C.
In what languages are you fluent? We are specifically seeking French
speaking volunteers for some slots and want to know the fluencies of all
volunteers so that we may more readily assist attendees if needed.
D.
What is your preferred orientation session if you are volunteering for a
Tuesday through Saturday slot? All students volunteering at any time
or in any position Tuesday-Saturday need to attend an orientation session
prior to their slot.
Orientation

i.
Tuesday, October 25, 7:30 am to 7:50 am
ii.

with information on how to register for free or secure your discounted
hotel room.
IMPORTANT:
Please do NOT register for the
conference if you are requesting a waived registration fee and please do
NOT make room reservations if you are requesting a discounted room. If
you are requesting a waived registration, Heidi will send you
information about how to register for workshops, purchase tickets,
etc. - but you do not need to register and pay for conference
registration itself.
Career
Center: Volunteers at the career center welcome career
center users, assist users with connecting to job seekers/employers,
maintain the public materials, and oversee signup and participation in
the career fair.
Event
Assistants: Volunteer event
assistants work with event coordinators to setup, coordinate, and
breakdown key events during the conference.
French
Speakers: For those of you who
speak French, we welcome you to sign up for any volunteer slot, but we
also have specific slots set aside for French-speaking volunteers so
that we may have bilingual assistance at the registration desk. Please look for them throughout the
listings - and only sign up for these slots if you are fluent in French.
Merci!
Local
Arrangements Desk: These
volunteers will assist at the local arrangements desk and will provide
information about things to do and see in Toronto. Flyers, guides,
maps, and menus will be available for distribution. Students signing up
for these slots should be familiar with Toronto and know the ins and outs
of the city.
PowerPoint
Specialist: This volunteer is
an experienced developer of PowerPoint presentations including
importing pictures and adding text. You will be asked to develop a
PowerPoint presentation from pictures taken throughout the conference
for presentation during Friday Night's silent auction.
Photographers:
Photographers work in pairs during their shift - with one
taking pictures and one recording names and getting permissions. One
of each pair should have his/her own digital camera and appropriate
storage media for use during the shift. Photographers should be
comfortable enough with their cameras to obtain presentation-ready pictures of
conference participants.
Registration
Desk: Volunteers at the registration desk welcome
attendees, distribute nametags and packets, provide directions, and
answer questions (orientation will provide you with what you need to
know). Registration desk volunteers may also be asked to assist on the
conference floor between sessions to provide directions and assistance
to attendees.
Room
Checkers: These volunteers assist with room checks on
Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday morning. Students will be
provided with a list of the expected setup and Audio Visual in each room and
will be asked to confirm those setups as well as to act as an
information source for attendees during their shift. These volunteers
work two short shifts from 6:30 am to 8:00 am on two consecutive days.
Setup:
This group will be responsible for packet stuffing, nametag
preparation, setup of the registration area, and last minute
preparation for the conference as needed. Dress is casual and we all
pitch in to get the work done and hopefully get out early!
