Do you work with a social program doing great things in Orange County, Florida? Would you like to see it highlighted at Evaluation 2009?
AEA
would like your help in identifying and recruiting a social program partner
for Evaluation 2009 (e.g. a charity, volunteer program, or other socially
oriented non-profit organization). Specifically we are looking for a program
that has a strong formative evaluation, whose evaluation work can be
presented on the conference program and to which AEA members may voluntarily
contribute in some way during the conference.
Last
year, the conference highlighted Denver’s Road Home, which serves the Denver
Homeless. Conference attendees donated over $600 in change and over 300
pairs of socks. The program was also highlighted via the AEA newsletter and
via outreach to local media. AEA members also had multiple opportunities to
learn about the program, through both conference presentations and an
evening on site at a local homeless shelter.
This
year we are seeking a social program in Orange County Florida to highlight
during the 2009 Conference, which will take place November 11th
-14th.
In
order to be considered, the program, working with its evaluator(s) would
need to:
1)
Submit a proposal to present at the 2009 AEA Conference through the
conference website
http://www.eval.org/eval2009/09proposals.htm
by March 20th, 2009. (Note that even if your group is not
selected to be highlighted, your abstract will still be considered for
inclusion in the general conference program.)
2)
E-mail a brief letter to Susan Kistler (susan@eval.org)
by April 20th including the following information:
a.
Name and contact information for both the program’s staff lead and the lead
Evaluator.
b.
A
brief (500 words or less) description of the program, including how the
program serves society, how it addresses and responds to current and
compelling needs in your community, and how the evaluation serves to improve
the program.
c.
Ideas on the kinds of support your program could use from conference
attendees and ways in which that support could be integrated into the
conference.
The
Task Force charged with selecting the program will identify the program by
July 7, and the selected program will be announced along with the acceptance
notices for submitted proposals.
If you
work with or know of a program that would qualify and might wish to be
considered, please share this email, submit a proposal, and help them to
apply.
Should
you have any questions, please contact AEA Executive Director Susan Kistler
at susan@eval.org.
Thank
you for helping us get the word out!
