Presidential Strand: Visionary Evaluation For A Sustainable, Equitable Future

AEA ‘s 2014 president, Beverly Parsons,  encouraged the 2014 attendees to “use relationships and systems thinking to connect evaluation to the premier challenge of our time—nurturing a diverse and interconnected world with enough for all for generations to come. Let’s envision evaluation as fundamental to a sustainable, equitable future. Let’s unleash the power of evaluation and the desire of both evaluators and evaluation users to impact the world in positive ways.

In keeping with the 2014 theme, speakers and panelists encouraged participants to share their evaluation examples and create their own visionary evaluation for supporting a sustainable, equitable future relevant to the context in which they work. Forty percent of attendees were first- time participants and 15 percent were students.  Attendees experiences four days of education sessions, three days of professional development workshops, and multiple networking events including an Awards Luncheon; Meet the Authors, Poster Exhibition & Reception; Reception & Silent Auction; and TIG business meetings.
