RSS FEEDS
RSS stands for Rich Site Summary or Really Simple Syndication. It is a way to subscribe to regularly updated website content and have it delivered to an RSS Reader. In order to subscribe to an RSS feed, you must use an RSS reader. The following short (under 4 minute) video from CommonCraft has one of the most understandable explanations of what RSS is and how to get started.
Why would I want to sign up for RSS feeds?
RSS has at least two advantages over other options for accessing content. First, it aggregates content from multiple sources into one place. You can check your reader for updates rather than checking multiple websites, blogs, news programs, etc. Second, many feeds - including those from AEA (see below) - bring into a single information source updates that you may otherwise miss. For instance, by signing up for the Table of Contents alerts, you are made aware of the new journal content the same day that it becomes available or by signing up for the new jobs alerts you may gain the leg up over other applicants by knowing of openings the same day that they are posted.
AEA's feeds are listed
above as well as in the
relevant sections of the AEA website. Generally, you want to look
for notices to "subscribe to my feed" or for variants on the

In order to subscribe to an RSS feed, you need an RSS reader. There are lots of readers, also called feed aggregators, out there. A list of readers may be found on wikipedia at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_feed_aggregators, but here are a few that are widely used and are free (note that you need only one):

happy to answer questions regarding our feeds, but we cannot assist
you with feed aggregator installation. |
