| Abstract: How does one define community readiness for change? How does one assess a program manager's passion, drive, commitment, and wisdom? How does one evaluate unexpected outcomes and incorporate local accomplishments into a statewide comparison? These questions relate to the University of Wyoming Survey and Analysis Center's (WYSAC) evaluation of Wyoming's Tobacco Prevention and Control Program. WYSAC evaluated 21 local programs to assess how well their outcomes correlated with state goals. The evaluation assessed individual community readiness to accept tobacco-related policies by using cultural, environmental, risk, and protective factors. The evaluation also documented community activities, including program manager capability, as well as community-specific outcomes. Attendees may choose to participate in one of three groups that will address each of the evaluation components: community readiness, program manager characteristics, and community outcomes. |
