Session Title: The Proposed Program Evaluation Standards, Third Edition 2nd Revision: A National Hearing

Abstract: This session will present the current draft of the Program Evaluation Standards prepared by a taskforce of the Joint Committee on Standards for Educational Evaluation (JCSEE). The discussion will outline the process and procedures guiding the revision as well as proposed changes in content, format and organization. The purpose of this session, which is classified as a National Hearing, is to solicit and respond to feedback from those members of AEA with an interest in the development and use of the Program Evaluation Standards. All comments will be recorded and responded to by the Joint Committee. Continued input by AEA members will be encouraged and the procedures for review will be explained.
American Evaluation Association and the Program Evaluation Standards: Where do we Stand?

Elmima Johnson serves as the AEA representative to the Joint Committee on Standards for Educational Evaluation. She will discuss AEA's role on the Joint Committee, the role of the Standards within the profession and practice of evaluation, and the importance of AEA member input in the development and revision of this guide to practice.
The Joint Committee and the Program Evaluation Standards: Standards Development and Use

Arlen Gullickson is the Chair of the Joint Committee on Standards for Educational Evaluation (JCSEE) and will review the history of the organization, its purpose and membership and national and international use of the standards.
Revisions in Standards Format, Content and Organization and the New Metaevaluation Standards

The presenters are both members of the taskforce that is revising the Program Evaluation Standards. The presentation will discuss proposed revisions to the 3rd edition of Joint Committee Standards for Educational Evaluation as they relate to the Propriety and Utility Standards. The discussion will cover standards under the two areas in their entirety including the aspects overview, the rationale, implementation and potential hazards.
