| Abstract: Broadly defined, stakeholders are the people and groups that affect or are affected by an organization. A key stakeholder assessment for an organization may be conducted with relatively minimal resources, especially in comparison to the costs and problems that may arise if key stakeholders are not identified or are ignored. This demonstration is based on an extensive literature review of stakeholder groups related to nonprofit organizations and public agencies. The various definitions and key concepts related to this area will be discussed. Various techniques of stakeholder identification and analysis will be presented. The facilitator will demonstrate the steps in conducting a complete stakeholder assessment through the use of a public administration graduate-level classroom assignment. Stakeholder diagrams, issue networks, political environment, and power rankings will also be discussed. Evaluation tools for stakeholder assessment will be provided and challenges and future trends in evaluation-related stakeholder management and measurement will be discussed. |
