| Abstract: Jim provides campus-wide leadership regarding the use of technologies to positively influence learning, teaching, and research. He regularly consults with SDSU personnel (including faculty) on an array of IT issues—including the selection, design, implementation and evaluation of tools, applications, systems, and other solutions for instructional planning, delivery, and assessment. He has led or managed initiatives dealing with course redesign (including conversion to hybrid or fully online delivery); he is especially well-versed with strategies for improving the large-lecture (n=100+), in particular, courses held in classrooms that are technology-enhanced and fully web-enabled. Jim also assists with management of day-to-day ITS operations. He’ll showcase ways that Blackboard data (supplemented with information gathered via self-report, observation, and interviews/focus groups) can reveal students’ level of effort, academic performance, and perceptions of the learning experience.
