Roundtable Rotation II: Enhancing a Masters in Evaluation Curriculum by Learning From Consumers of Evaluation
Roundtable Presentation 616 to be held in Jefferson Room on Friday, November 9, 1:55 PM to 3:25 PM
Presenter(s):
Sharon Ross,  Founder's Trust,  sross@founderstrust.org
Gibbs Kanyongo,  Duquesne University,  kanyongog@duq.edu
Abstract: Duquesne University's Department of Foundations and Leadership undertook a project to review the curriculum for the M.S.Ed. in Program Evaluation in order to improve the services offered to evaluation students. The underlying idea behind this study was to learn from key stakeholders what their evaluation needs are, what evaluator qualifications are valued, and what other universities are doing to meet these demands. One of the most interesting aspects of this study was the ability to add a new voice to the process by surveying local nonprofit organizations that are consumers of evaluation and may one day hire these student evaluators. This paper highlights the value and challenges of adding these new voices to a curriculum review.
