| Abstract: Evaluators have to understand how a group of people perceive an intervention, communicate their views and act on the knowledge gained from the evaluation. This process of information exchange, interpretation and application of knowledge are influenced by the cultures of the participants, including the evaluator. Because of this, cross-cultural competency is essential in evaluation and among evaluators. The facilitators will present key points from a recent report sponsored by The Colorado Trust about ways to develop and conduct a cross-culturally competent evaluation. The purpose of the roundtable is to expand on this report by soliciting feedback from evaluators about what it actually takes to build evaluators' capacity to be cross-culturally competent. |
