| Abstract:
This roundtable will explore both the challenges faced and the solutions selected in the ongoing implementation of a federally-funded, quasi-experimental design evaluation of a juvenile mentoring program for at-risk youths in Utah. Challenges that will be discussed include: evaluation design planning, program funding, geographical distance, cross-site variation in program implementation, fostering commitment to data collection, and sample size. Particular attention will be paid to issues pertaining to the needs of the three primary clients of the evaluation—the agency funding the evaluation, the program being evaluated, and the program participants.
