| Abstract: When funding agencies require grantees to evaluate their programs, yet, neither the funding agencies nor grantees provide direction for the evaluation, having the knowledge and skills to design meaningful and useful evaluation plans is critical for evaluators. This workshop will draw on existing literature and practical strategies to equip participants with the knowledge to ensure evaluation designs are responsive to stakeholders' needs. Evaluation plans and development processes from the Indiana Cancer Consortium and Indiana Joint Asthma Coalition will be discussed to describe specific strategies used to define stakeholder needs, key questions, and data collection plans. Strengths of the practices that will be described include integration of practical strategies with the existing research base and successful application of these methods across multiple coalition evaluations. One limitation is that the methods have not yet been tested on program structures outside of public health coalitions. |
