| Abstract: Participatory evaluations are collaborations among evaluators and stakeholders. Stakeholder participation helps with the interpretation of data and may generate additional evaluation questions based on the needs of the participating organizations. Through participatory evaluation, stakeholders assist with development of instruments and protocols, selection of data collection procedures that maximize utility of information and minimize the burden of data collection, and help communicate evaluation results. Implementation of program and policy changes based on evaluation results are often left to the stakeholders alone. Participatory implementation extends the concept of participatory evaluation and expands the role of the evaluator as a partner in implementation. This session introduces participants to evaluation as a tool for participatory implementation. It features demonstrations of effective stakeholder engagement strategies, ways to organize and transition evaluation activities from planning to implementation and reporting strategies that move policy makers to action. |
