| Abstract: The report Case Studies of Cross-Culturally Competent Evaluations is designed to present the reader with real-life situations that involve evaluation in a diverse world. It is a series of situations that evaluators, funders and community members have faced that challenged their notion of cross-culturally competent evaluation. The case studies are presented and responses to questions posed to various individuals follow. The participants in the think tank will receive a draft of this document and hear a short presentation of key themes. Then, breaking up into several small groups, ideally according to profession, each group will discuss the following questions: 1. What is the role of cross-cultural competency in acceptable standards for an evaluation? 2. Who is responsible for assuring evaluations are culturally appropriate? 3. Should funders be expected to pay more for cross culturally appropriate evaluations? The different insights and options held by the different groups will be shared in the reconvening. |
