Abstract: This skill-building session will present tools and techniques to help evaluators improve the collection, analysis, and reporting of survey data. The session will cover those tasks and activities that should occur before, during, and after conducting a survey. The presenters will draw upon their combined evaluation experience to present strategies for improving both paper and electronic surveying. Related topics that also will be covered include budgeting time and resources for surveys and strategies for presenting survey findings. A number of tools we have developed to facilitate the collection, sorting, analysis, and reporting of survey data will be demonstrated and shared. The presentation will include the description and discussion of lessons learned from numerous evaluations conducted by The Evaluation Center. Interactive use with a laptop and projector will facilitate the instructional process. Handouts including sample tools for collecting, processing, and reporting survey data also will be shared.
