| Abstract: Qualitative research studies require unique analysis strategies for identifying, coding and categorizing themes found in the data. Because 'clarity and applicability of the findings' depend on the researcher, what happens when data synthesis is a team effort (Bryne, 2001)? When the quality of research findings depends on a group of researchers, myriad issues can arise. This think tank will explore challenges that face evaluators analyzing and reporting qualitative data in teams. Using case study examples of different team approaches to the process, the session will focus on the following major categories: Stages of data reduction, analysis, and writing as a team; how a team negotiates authorship for sections of a report; and power and authority in the writing process. |
