| Abstract: This roundtable session focuses on strategies to increase organizational coherence and evaluation capacity. Internal evaluators within a large urban school district will present ongoing experiences extending logic modeling to the departmental level during a strategic evaluation planning process with several large central district office departments. The short-term goals of this process include increasing stakeholder knowledge of evaluation techniques and involvement in the definition of key streams of work and outcomes. Longer-term goals include increasing the relevancy of evaluation, the appreciation for and distinctions between evaluation and monitoring tasks, inter- and intradepartmental coherence, internal capacity among the departments to self-monitor their work, and the articulation of evaluation and research agendas. This roundtable will discuss challenges and successes with these efforts and provide a forum for sharing additional tools that session participants have found helpful in their organizational-level work. |
