Abstract: A quick search of the online resource Google Scholar reveals over 1,700 references to 'portfolio evaluation', many of which refer to work that was done in the teaching and financial investment arenas. But rarely do the references point to organizations examining the strength of their portfolios in meeting the needs of their clients and constituents. Members of the evaluation field have begun to bring the best of the evaluation practice to the assessment of a portfolio - a set of programs, products, and services - an effort that we believe will add significant value to organizations in ensuring they are able to achieve their goals and meet their missions. This session will first present three examples of portfolio evaluation and then actively engage the audience in examining these cases in an effort to make further improvements to the practice.
