| Abstract: Evaluation research is embedded in a political milieu. The various interests and disciplinary demands of the stakeholders tend to diverge politically, ethically, and even in terms of values. This discussion will begin with a field/case presentation that focuses on lessons learned from the program implementation, funding, and evaluation of a pre-birth to five national early childhood program. The program’s director, its independent evaluator, and a representative from the parent organization who acts as a liaison with foundations, will tell the program’s story and discuss the importance and impact of evaluation policy from their three diverse perspectives program implementation and practice, evaluation, and the political dimension of meeting funder needs. Following their presentation panelists will engage the audience in a facilitated discussion about the issues raised and relevant experiences of audience members. |
