| Abstract: This roundtable will discuss an evaluation of experimentally manipulated anti-drug messages. The focus will not be the results, per se, but rather the advantages of using multiple laptops and embedded messages as a means of evaluating messages targeting young adolescents. The experimental, anti-drug, messages were embedded in an anti-bullying video to “bury the chestnut.” The use of laptops allowed for short videos to keep participants entertained while filling out a long survey. Laptops also allowed participants to move at their own pace and the synchronized voice-over assisted participants with reading difficulties. Additional advantages of using laptops to evaluate health messages will be discussed along with some of the drawbacks and the costs. |
