| Abstract: The Mississippi Delta Children’s Partnership was launched in response to the grave need to engage rural, low-wealth Delta communities in the collaborative process to improve the academic and social well-being of children and their families. The theory of change that undergirds this partnership is the ecological model of human development with the child as the center focus. One hypothesis of the partnership is that through structured out-of-school time activities, the children (ages 5-12) at the five sites in the Delta will improve their academic performance. Reading and math outcomes will be measured through: 1) Pre- and post-tests administered at site level using the Leap Track Instructional System and 2) Comparison of scores for the state administered Mississippi Curriculum Test. T-test analysis will be conducted to examine significant differences between pre-and post test Leap Track mean scores and for mean score differences for participants and non-participants of the partnership on the Mississippi Curriculum Test. |
