| Abstract: When funding agencies require grantees to form coalitions and evaluate them, understanding and utilizing a model for externally facilitated participatory coalition evaluations is critical for evaluators. This workshop will present a model for assessing coalitions using a participatory approach that will equip participants with a framework to reference when evaluating coalitions. The model draws upon existing frameworks and practical strategies such as the Model for Collaborative Evaluations developed by Liliana Rodriguez-Campos, Steps in the Community Initiative Evaluation Process presented by Nina Wallerstein, Michele Polascek, and Kristine Maltrud, as well as practical strategies used in the evaluations of the Indiana Cancer Consortium and Indiana Joint Asthma Coalition. Strengths of the model include the incorporation of existing frameworks and practical strategies, as well as adaptations for application at any point in evaluating coalitions. One limitation is that the model has yet to be tested on program structures outside of public health coalitions. |
