Session Title: Taking Control of Your Evaluation Career
Skill-Building Workshop 249 to be held in Panzacola Section G1 on Thursday, Nov 12, 10:55 AM to 12:25 PM
Sponsored by the Evaluation Managers and Supervisors TIG
Presenter(s):
George F Grob, Center for Public Program Evaluation, georgefgrob@cs.com
Ann Maxwell, United States Department of Health and Human Services, ann.maxwell@oig.hhs.gov
Abstract: This session will engage its participants in a series of exercises deigned to help them understand the many possibilities of a rewarding life long career in the field of evaluation; to identify both the broad and specific skills, knowledge, and experience conducive to achieving it; to evaluate where they currently stand; and to set goals for their own personal future career development. The exercises aim to open each participating evaluator's vision to his or her roles and potential as an analyst/methodologist; substantive program expert; and manager/administrator/advisor. It will explain how these skills naturally develop over a lifetime of evaluation practice, and how an evaluator can plan for and enjoy an expanding role of professionalism, influence, and stature over his or her career.
