| Abstract: The familiarity and use of the Student Evaluation Standards is surprisingly limited considering the influence that the Joint Committee has had on the field of evaluation. In an attempt to increase awareness of the Standards, link the Standards with Assessment for Learning, and improve the overall quality of student evaluation practices, the Joint Committee on Standards for Educational Evaluation and the National Science Foundation have sponsored the development of a benchmarking tool kit for educators. This tool kit, which is being piloted in a variety of contexts across the nation, should also prove useful in the upcoming revision of the Student Evaluation Standards. This session will provide a step-by-step guide to benchmarking student evaluation practices, discuss examples of current and future research studies, and engage participants in a discussion of ways to use benchmarking research to improve the quality and use of the Student Evaluation Standards. |
