| Abstract: The primary purpose of this session is to investigate unique considerations when evaluating family life education programs delivered through online social networking tools. The use of social networking as a median for communication and networking continues to increase. However, little is known about how effective these tools can be in promoting learning and facilitating behavior change. Following a brief review of the current literature, the presenter will introduce and discuss a variety of considerations to evaluators. How is online learning expected to occur within a social networking tool? What should evaluators look for? What are the best strategies for collecting data? What other unique aspects should we, as evaluators, consider when evaluating online program delivery? What challenges do evaluators face when using social networking tools to deliver educational programs? Examples will be discussed using a program for nonresidential fathers, delivered though a private social networking tool, etendi BRIDGE. |
