Abstract: Evaluation quality and business viability are critical considerations for any small consulting organization. The mixed method evaluation activity described here centers around a web-based survey platform that is an integral part of the evaluation delivery. Technical development costs and consulting overhead expenses requires an approach that is as efficient, streamlined and sustainable as possible - if possible. The process of costing projects by breaking down task- and- time requirements certainly reaches the heart of evaluation by interrogating methodological priorities, evaluation outcomes and even strategic business objectives. Two case study examples are presented highlighting how evaluation and online survey activity for various projects were priced, together with lessons learned. One example is a scalable pricing model for evaluation of organizational development and 360-degree feedback. Another is an impact evaluation for a national, multisite, collaborative project undertaken by Australia's eight leading research-intensive universities.
