| Abstract: The Healthy Maine Partnerships (HMP) Initiative represents a progressive approach to public health - community coalitions, supported with funding and guidance from the state, act as a platform for delivering comprehensive health interventions at the local level, thereby reinforcing state efforts. Evaluation of the HMP Initiative requires consideration of 8 state agencies representing chronic disease prevention and coordinated school health, and 30 community coalitions differing in terms of geography, staffing, and populations served. This presentation will highlight our systems-level evaluation developed to explore barriers and successes in achieving process and outcome measures at both the state and community levels. It will detail the use of mixed methodology including the use of surveillance data, electronic monitoring, key-informant interviews, web surveys of state and coalition staff, and telephone surveys for distinct settings (e.g., worksites). We will share challenges and lessons learned in evaluating common objectives across diverse settings, within a collaborative management structure. |
