| Abstract: Evaluation Capacity Building (ECB) has most typically been used as a system to help organizations develop processes and structures to use evaluation to meet accountability standards. In higher education, these accountability requirements focus on direct and indirect evidence of student learning as demonstrated through the development of student learning outcomes, measuring those outcomes, and making changes based on these measurements. This continuous improvement process provides an example of how ECB principles are developed and carried out in higher education institutions and how subcultures within a particular institution affect and determine the process. This session will focus on program examples from two different universities that demonstrate the complexities of following an overall institutional strategy adapted to individual programs within the institution. |
