| Abstract: This Think Tank session begins a conversation within the field about building an empirically-based understanding of recommendations generated from evaluations—whether and how clients respond to them and if so, what impact they ultimately have. Although the making of recommendations is common practice for a majority of evaluators, the systematic study of their use and impact has lagged. The session is geared toward both evaluation practitioners and researchers who have interest in advancing the field toward evidence-based practice. After a brief framing by the facilitators, participants will break into small groups to consider the following questions: 1) What do and don’t we know about the various ways clients respond to recommendations from evaluators and how could we track these responses systematically? 2) What do and don’t we know about the impact of evaluation recommendations and how could we assess impact of those that are implemented by clients? |
