Abstract: This highly interactive think tank is the capstone event in the Association’s member review of the AEA Public Statement on the Importance of Cultural Competence in Evaluation. The Statement is the result of five years of work by an AEA task force in consultation with a range of experts and members. The think tank discussion will help shape the final version of this statement and create a vision for moving toward wider attention to culture in evaluation. After a brief introduction to the statement and its history, participants will be asked to provide feedback on the statement and create a vision of how best to support evaluators in translating it into action. A technical known as graphic facilitation will be used along with traditional recording of the discussions to capture the main concepts and ideas generated. (Graphic facilitation is a tool for capturing and organizing a group’s ideas with pictures.)
