| Abstract: Universal design refers to designing products or programs so that they are accessible to everyone. Universal design principles can be applied to evaluation to ensure that all relevant populations are included at every stage of the work, from project design to sharing of findings. Session attendees will learn how to apply the concepts of universal design to evaluation as well as practical techniques for making evaluations inclusive. Specific topics covered will include stakeholder input and involvement, recruitment of difficult to reach populations, consent processes, data collection, and dissemination of findings. Participants are invited to bring materials from an evaluation project (such as an evaluation plan, a data collection instrument, or a report); the session will include a hands-on portion working on how to incorporate universal design to improve these materials. Materials and resources will also be provided for more information. |
