Abstract: This presentation introduces the trends in performance evaluation of national R&D program in Korea. Evaluation of national R&D programs is carried out by self/meta evaluation and in-depth evaluation. Trends of performance evaluation of national R&D Program in Korea focus on the qualitative excellence in addition to the efficiency of performance. According to the trend, self/meta evaluation adopts an indicator of qualitative excellence with weight of 10%. On the other hand, In-depth evaluation focuses on checking and verifying the efficiency and success of the program and provides the alternatives to program improvement when the problems were found. Altogether, evaluation of national R&D programs is performed as a tool for better management of public finance adopting methodologies for checking qualitative excellence and the efficiency/effectiveness.
