| Abstract: With 38 bureaus and over 240 embassies and missions around the world, the U.S. Department of State (State) does not lend itself to a one-size-fits-all approach to evaluation. At the same time, State faces an increasing demand for credible evidence of the impact of the U.S. Government’s foreign policy activities. In this session, participants will better understand the important of an integrated model of capacity building to ensure that very disparate approaches to program evaluation on a global scale meet standards for quality and are responsive to the agency’s needs. Participants will see how such a model at State better enables evaluation to: • Improve effectiveness in achieving U.S. foreign policy goals; • Document project accomplishments and achieved outcomes; • Integrate senior leadership priorities; • Demonstrate “value for money;” and • Help coordinate and focus strategic planning to ensure accountability and transparency. |
