| Abstract:
This demonstration will discuss key performance metrics for research assessment based on journal and citation data (bibliometrics). Thomson Reuters’ web-based research evaluation tool, InCites, will be demonstrated, along with an explanation of the data source, Web of Science, and its characteristics. This presentation will cover various bibliometric indicators used to measure research performance, including article output, citation counts, h-index, citation impact, interdisciplinarity measures, etc. Assessment at the institutional, as well as researcher level, will also be discussed. Applications of these bibliometric indicators for faculty assessment, collaboration analysis, and peer comparisons will be reviewed. Guidelines for using bibliometric indicators will also be discussed.
