| Abstract: Two years ago, Bill Trochim called attention to the issue of evaluation policy by making it the theme of the AEA conference. The present talk briefly reviews the concept of evaluation policy, highlights select aspects of recent writings about the topic, and summarizes some ongoing activities intended to help shape evaluation policy. I then offer one sketch of where we want to go in terms of the evaluation policy of the future, and also suggest activities that might help us get there. Much of the presentation will involve dialog with and across the audience on the twin topics of where we want to go in terms of evaluation policy, and how we want to get there. Perhaps we will end with a kind of agenda for future conversations and actions. |
