| Abstract: The emerging field of digital media and learning prides itself on innovation. How can we make sure our evaluations follow suit? This think tank session will consider opportunities and challenges in evaluating programs that teach digital media and technologies to youth. The chairperson will introduce the session by defining digital media and learning within the contexts of the programs we have evaluated. Each breakout group will then discuss one of the following issues: (1) the advantages and limitations of specific methods and measures; (2) the ways in which youth can best document their experiences and participate in evaluation activities; and (3) how evaluations vary based on program factors, such as the media being studied, duration, setting and population. We hope by the end of this session we can identify the kinds of questions we need to address and begin to discuss the best methods for finding answers. |
