| Abstract: The National Institutes of Health (NIH) Portfolio Analysis Group (PAG) provides exploratory analysis of biomedical data to better understand research gaps, opportunities for research, and a more thorough understanding of existing NIH research activities. PAG also explores how this research evolves over time. To this end, PAG must investigate various processes, datasets and tools to help explore research activities and outcomes as well as social networks. To do so a variety of open source, proprietary and NIH created tools and algorithms are being assessed and evaluated. This workshop will explore elements of the NIH process and demonstrate a select set of portfolio analysis processes in current use as well as methods for assessing tools and algorithms for their usefulness. |
