| Abstract:
From empowerment to black box evaluation, different approaches are required to increase the likelihood that higher education institutions in Saudi Arabia will achieve their accreditation goals. Depending on the stage of accreditation, quality assurance directors should employ evaluation methods which are most appropriate for the size, type, and development of a higher education institution. The following paper features lessons learned by quality assurance directors in Saudi Arabia that are actively engaged in capacity building, and outcome-based research, to ensure standards of quality are met. In order to avoid extremes with any approach, theoretical propositions for future research projects are recommended.
