Session Title: What's New in the New Edition of the RealWorld Evaluation Book?
Demonstration Session 822 to be held in El Capitan B on Saturday, Nov 5, 8:00 AM to 9:30 AM
Sponsored by the International and Cross-cultural Evaluation TIG
Presenter(s):

Michael Bamberger, Independent Consultant, jmichaelbamberger@gmail.com
Abstract: The RealWorld Evaluation book and related workshops have been very popular with AEA audiences and with colleagues in other countries as well. Based on extensive feedback and in response to global trends in the evaluation profession, there have been a number of changes and additions made in the 2nd edition of the book, to be published by Sage by late 2011. During this session authors Michael Bamberger and Jim Rugh will be introducing what's new in the new edition of the RealWorld Evaluation book. These include a more extensive list and descriptions of a variety of evaluation designs, alternatives to the statistical counterfactual, ways to reconstruct baseline data, a greater focus on the evaluation of complicated and complex programs, the use of mixed methods and other ways to conduct evaluations given the practical realities in the real world.
