| Abstract: Following up on their session at the 2010 AEA conference, John Hecklinger and Irene Guijt will demonstrate how GlobalGiving scaled up its effort to assess the performance of its online marketplace using the SenseMaker(tm) methodology of story collection, tagging, and visualization. They will discuss how they moved from the pilot described in the 2010 demonstration session to full ongoing implementation in Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania and how they have addressed logistical and technological challenges in gathering stories through the GlobalGiving platform. The session will demonstrate how this process has aided decision making and fostered learning for GlobalGiving, its partner organizations, and beneficiaries, and how the resulting information is informing decision-making in the development sector more broadly. |
