| Abstract: This is the third in a topical series of Thinks Tanks and Round Tables. The first examined how to guide an organization in its initial consideration of a knowledge management project. The second focused on how to ensure such a project starts off with an effective front end needs assessment that both determines specific needs and identifies outcomes to observe and measure for subsequent project evaluation. This Think Tank will present the lessons learned from experience during a long-term implementation of a knowledge management initiative. The focus is on two issues: using results of the needs assessment to prioritize effort, and the practical aspects of building in evaluation during early implementation phases. It will highlight both quantitative and qualitative measurements and dealing with the messiness of human interaction, especially when institutional inertia is a major factor. The session will be 1/2 presenter time, and 1/2 participant brainstorming in small groups. |
