| Abstract: Systems of Care evaluations are large-scale evaluation projects that require the participatory engagement of multiple and diverse stakeholders, employ a broad array of methods, and aim to create sustainable mental health systems change through practice, policy, and data use. Like all evaluation projects, beginning well and ending strong is imperative to achieving evaluation goals. Projecting and preparing for longitudinal outcomes requires a brand of preparation, foresight, and relationship building that is particular to community-based mental health initiatives. In this skill-building workshop, the authors will present specific practices, approaches, and lessons-learned to conduct a successful evaluation in this complex service-provision environment. Attendees will have the opportunity to engage with one another, examine the relationship between program and personal values, share their experiences, and apply the tools presented in this session to their own contexts. |
