| Abstract: There's no such thing as a "perfect" evaluation. Most evaluations are fraught with challenges relating to such aspects of evaluation as context, logistics, data collection, data analysis, and dissemination of findings. Yet a thoughtful evaluator can navigate these challenges successfully, preventing some and resolving others as they arise. Furthermore, a relatively small number of sound evaluation practices (or "super-strategies") can help address multiple challenges simultaneously. Workshop participants will work together to identify common challenges that can hinder the smooth conduct of an evaluation. They will then develop strategies to address those challenges, during both planning and implementation of an evaluation. Finally, participants will surface broader "super-strategies" that can be incorporated into evaluation practice. In conclusion, participants will receive materials on strategies for success in implementing evaluations developed by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's Air Pollution and Respiratory Health Branch, its grantees, and contractor staff from Battelle. |
