| Abstract: This session demonstrates the application of two online ethics decision-support tools to help participants integrate an ethical approach in all evaluation projects so that people or their information are protected and respected: 1) The ARECCI Guidelines for Quality Improvement and Evaluation Projects introduce six ethical considerations to assist integration of ethics in project planning or to use as a framework for reviewing evaluation projects. 2) The ARECCI Ethics Screening Tool helps determine the primary purpose of the project (research versus non-research), category of risk to participants, and the level of ethics review required (if any). These tools provide a fast, transparent and consistent way of identifying and managing risks in evaluation projects. They can be shared with team members and work in progress can be stored for future retrieval. The tools are available free of charge at www.ahfmr.ab.ca/arecci |
