| Abstract: On April 1st 2009, a renewed Canadian federal Policy on Evaluation, along with a Directive and Standard, came into effect. The objective of this policy - which applies to most departments and agencies across the Government of Canada - is creating a comprehensive and reliable base of evaluation evidence that is used to support policy and program improvement, expenditure management, Cabinet decision making, and public reporting. In this presentation, the Senior Director of the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat's Centre of Excellence for Evaluation will provide participants with an overview of the drivers of the renewed policy. Moreover, this presentation will explore the emerging trends in evaluation quality and utilization, since the introduction of the policy in 2009, as assessed through the annual review of evaluation functions in federal departments and agencies. Finally, this presentation will review 'lessons learned' that may inform evaluation policy development in other jurisdictions. |
