| Abstract:
The purpose of this presentation is to provide an overview of the tools, techniques and talents useful in developing an effective online presence. An established Internet presence can be used by an independent consultant to build credibility, to establish a unique brand, and for connecting with existing and prospective clients. The presenter will outline a model that implements some of the ideas that an independent practitioner or small consulting practice can use to leverage their online identity, specifically demonstrating what this online presence should look like, including the integration of popular social media platforms such as blogs (Wordpress, Blogger, etc.), Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn. Some of the many ways that these tools can be used to enhance the success of an independent consulting practice will also be discussed, in addition to the subjects of privacy, security and reputation management.
