| Abstract: Community transition teams (also referred to as transition councils) are typified as being composed of local, community-level representatives of schools, disability-related agencies and community organizations, families and students, and other stakeholders who join together to improve local transition services for youths with disabilities. The theory behind this model is that community transition teams will help students and families secure resources to accomplish their transition plan through improving the capacity of schools and communities to deliver better services through collaboration (Benz, Lindstrom, & Halpern, 1995; deFur, 1999; Noonan, Morningstar and Gaumer, 2008). In order to measure collaboration within the Community transition team, Noonan (2011) developed a 15 question survey (reliability .88) targeting research-based collaborative behaviors identified in prior research (Noonan, Morningstar and Gaumer, 2008). Survey results feed directly into a rubric for scoring team level of implementation of collaboration. This session will review these measures and discuss measurement of collaboration. |
