Abstract: The field of Higher Education has a unique relationship with evaluation. Evaluation and assessment are necessary components of higher education for a variety of stakeholders: government agencies, accreditation organizations, university administrators, faculty, staff, program coordinators, students, and parents to name only a few. However, the quality, merit, or worth of a program may be viewed differently by different stakeholders; this presents a unique challenge for evaluators within higher education, especially when resources and funding are scarce and/or are aligned with particular expectations or differing standards. The purpose of this roundtable session is twofold: 1) to discuss the plurality of values represented by various stakeholders within higher education and 2) how evaluators incorporate these values into an evaluation's design, utilization, and presentation of findings. Examples of programs and evaluations within a Student Affairs context will be presented, along with implications for evaluating conflicting values within the field of Higher Education.
