| Abstract: The Intercultural Student Attitude Scale (ISAS) is intended for use by college and university study abroad programs to assess student outcomes of international study and evaluate program goals related to student growth in cross-cultural skills and attitudes. The assessment of attitude change as a result of study abroad is in its infancy and no other validated instrument exists for this purpose. The authors plan to make the ISAS available through the public domain for use by university international study offices and individual study abroad programs as well as for research applications. The audience will learn about the development and validation of the ISAS, the role of sex and personality factors in self-selection for international study, and how student attitudes change with study abroad experience. |
