Graduate Education Diversity Internship (GEDI) Application

Before You Apply

Prior to beginning the GEDI application, please take the time to review and gather the required components below in preparation.

Please note that all prompts must be submitted in PDF format. If you are unable to do so, please send your responses in a PDF file to gedi@eval.org by the indicated due date.

Before you begin, please be prepared to provide the following:

  • - One of the goals of the GEDI Program is to expand the pool of graduate students of color and from other under-represented groups who have extended their research capacities to evaluation. Be prepared to briefly describe how you meet the eligibility requirement of being a graduate student of color and/or historically underrepresented.
  • - A letter of reference from a professional reference at your home institution who agrees to serve as an academic advisor during this internship process and who can speak to your qualifications for the internship program. Prospective scholars should be sure to obtain the appropriate required approvals from their home institution to fully participate in the program.
  • - Individual essay prompts. Each response should be no less than one page single-spaced and no more than two pages double-spaced. Please submit responses in a single PDF file with all four answers and include your full name at the top.
    • - How do you foresee the relevance of the evaluation internship program in your current and future work or career aspirations?
    • - What coursework and/or experience have you had to date related to conducting research?
    • - In what ways do your background, studies, and work/life experiences prepare you to think about and employ culturally responsive evaluation practices?
    • - How would you describe your ideal work environment?
  • - A 2-3 page vitae including a list of professional organizations with which you are affiliated.
I have read the above in its entirety and I am ready to submit my GEDI scholar application.
